Immigrant visas to the United States are processed for citizens and residents of Lebanon at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.
To apply for an immigrant visa, a foreign citizen seeking to immigrate generally must be sponsored by a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident immediate relative(s), or prospective U.S. employer, and have an approved petition before applying for an immigrant visa. The sponsor begins the process by filing a petition on the foreign citizen’s behalf with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). You may wish to review our Directory of Visa Categories on travel.state.gov to learn about the different types of immigrant visas to the United States, including our Diversity Visa Program. Then, follow the steps on the Immigrant Visa Process, or on the Diversity Visa Process, on travel.state.gov to begin applying for an immigrant visa.
Once USCIS has approved your petition and you have completed pre-processing with the National Visa Center (NVC), or if you have been selected in the Diversity Visa Lottery and completed processing with the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC), review the instructions given to you by the NVC or the KCC, along with the information presented on this website, for further guidance and instructions.
The Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut is responsible for providing visa services to those seeking to enter the United States for a temporary period and for those wishing to take up indefinite or permanent residence in the United States.
Please visit our Global Support Services (GSS) website for complete information on applying for a nonimmigrant U.S. visa, including a directory of nonimmigrant visa categories.
The Embassy is located in Awkar, off the Dbayeh highway, facing the Awkar Municipal Building. The Consular Section provides full Nonimmigrant and Immigrant Visa Services.
Please read carefully the general list of security procedures for U.S. Embassies. Any visitor who declines to be screened by U.S. Embassy security personnel will be prohibited from entering the Embassy grounds.
All visitors must be screened prior to entering a U.S. Embassy or Consulate and are subject to inspection via walk-through metal detector and a hand-held metal detector. All personal items will undergo full inspection by use of x-ray and other detection equipment.
Any visitor refusing to submit to security screening shall be prohibited from entering.
The following items are prohibited inside the U.S. Embassy and we have no storage facilities for them, so please leave them at your home, your hotel, or in your vehicle:
This list is not all-inclusive. The U.S. Embassy reserves the right to deny entry of any items deemed suspicious.
The following persons may accompany an applicant on a case-by-case basis during Consular-related visits:
Due to waiting room size, the large volume of applicants and the time required to screen consular clients, other accompanying persons cannot be admitted to the waiting room.
Drivers, friends, and extra relatives must wait outside or return to meet the applicant after the interview has been completed. The sole exception to this rule is applicants with minor children under the age of 18.
Attorneys, agents, accountants, or employers accompanying applicants will not be permitted to accompany clients into the waiting room or at their interviews without prior approval.
If you need reasonable accommodation for your appointment, we encourage you to request your accommodation immediately once you schedule your appointment. We make every effort to provide accommodations to persons with disabilities and medical conditions. Reasonable accommodations vary, depending on the situation and the person’s needs.
Examples of accommodations include, but are not limited to:
If you are unable to provide fingerprints because of a medical condition, including birth defects, physical deformities, skin conditions, you may qualify for a fingerprint waiver for certain fingers.
The waiting room of the Consular Section and its restroom is wheelchair-accessible.
