The U.S. Embassy Beirut extends its deepest condolences to the people of Lebanon, particularly the families of the fallen Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) soldiers, kidnapped by ISIS, in August 2014. We also offer our sincere condolences for the soldiers who were killed in the line of duty during the “Fajr al-Jouroud” operation.
Today, our flag flies at half-mast in observance of the National Day of Mourning. The Embassy’s staff – Americans and Lebanese – will join the people of Lebanon for a moment of silence at 10:00 to pay respects.
The U.S. Embassy Beirut salutes the Lebanese people’s resilience in the face of terrorism and the LAF’s sacrifices and achievements in making Lebanon safe for all Lebanese.
