Reminder About Updating Travel Documents and Emergency Preparedness

The U.S. Embassy in Beirut reminds U.S. citizens to ensure that their U.S. passports remain valid for ease of travel on short notice.  Some countries require a minimum of six months validity to allow entry.  You may be eligible to renew your passport by paying the fee online, sending the application, and receiving your new passport via courier.  Information on how to do so can be found at our American Citizen Services website.

U.S. citizens and their family members are encouraged to take an active role in reviewing their emergency preparedness plans.  For more information, please visit the State Department’s web page on Crisis Response Planning.

We also remind citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive important safety and security messages and make it easier for us to locate and assist you in an emergency.
