Deputy Chief of Mission Amanda Pilz
Amanda Pilz arrived at U.S. Embassy Beirut as the Deputy Chief of Mission in August 2023. Prior to her assignment in Lebanon, she served as Principal Officer at U.S. Consulate Adana, which covers Central Mediterranean and Southeast Turkey.
Her other previous overseas postings include Rome, Kabul, Jerusalem, Tunis, Lahore, Baghdad, and Kuwait. She also served in Washington in a variety of roles related to Israeli and Palestinian affairs.
She earned undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degrees in literature from Magdalen College, Oxford University and studied international relations at the London School of Economics before joining the U.S. Foreign Service in 2002.
