Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Ambassador Richard Jones met today with Interior Minister Nohad Machnouk as part of his courtesy meetings with various ministers.
Following is the statement Ambassador Jones gave after the meeting:

Well I don’t have any big statements, but I just had a very nice meeting. It is part of my round of courtesy calls, seeing various ministers, with Minister Machnouk. And we exchanged views on the situation. Of course we’re all very concerned, seized I would say, with the security situation. And I assured the Minister that the United States would stand by Lebanon. We will continue to provide support for the security services of the country, in terms of training and equipment, and also information. So I assured him that cooperation would continue, and I think he is pleased by that. And we also talked about other events and I think we had a good meeting of the minds. So thank you.
