U.S. Ambassador Elizabeth Richard visited the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) on December 2, highlighting the U.S. Government’s commitment to supporting education in Lebanon.
Ambassador Richard participated in a ceremony for USEK students who completed a U.S. Embassy-funded training program on social action initiatives. The program—Enhancing Youth Education and Community Cohesion Through Learning English—seeks to promote initiatives that improve conditions for disadvantaged people in local communities. As part of the program, the students also formed a civic engagement group that launched its first project at the event.
Additionally, while at USEK, Ambassador Richard met with Rector Father George Hobeika, toured the campus, and had a discussion with students on a variety of topics.
The Embassy’s continuous interaction with universities, in addition to the numerous scholarship and exchange programs funded by the U.S. Government, demonstrate the strong commitment of the United States to supporting education in Lebanon and providing the best opportunities to Lebanese students.
