The U.S. Embassy in Beirut announces the “One Beat” program, a four-week international music exchange in the United States to take place fall 2019.
One Beat is an international music exchange bringing together musicians from around the world to work with American peers in a program that focuses on musical collaboration and social engagement through innovative people-to-people diplomacy.
One Beat brings musicians (ages 19-35) from around the world to the U.S. for one month each fall to collaboratively write, produce, and perform original music, and develop ways that music can make a positive impact on our local and global communities. Participants will work together in the composition and performance of new cross‐genre works, the creation of innovative recordings and videos, and the development of practices of music as civic engagement. You can learn more about the One Beat program by visiting the website: http://www.1beat.org/
Musicians can apply via the One Beat website (www.1beat.org), where they will be asked to describe their musical journeys and their interest in being a One Beat Fellow. Applicants are also required to submit work samples (which can be in the form of audio, video, and/or written scores), including one solo work, one collaborative work, and 1-3 works of their choice that help us to understand them as a musician and person. Applicants are strongly encouraged to include a CV or resume and two letters of reference.
The application period for the One Beat program closes on December 21, 2018.
